Early birthday present

I got an early birthday present from Auntie Jen. Teething Bling is the best! I guess it's supposed to be for Mom's birthday on Friday, but I know it's really for me. Auntie Jen's birthday is on Friday, too. Happy birthday, Auntie Jen. And thanks for the bling-irific present!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mommies! Especially Nana, Great Grandma Mimi, Grandma Linda, Grandma Kathy, Great Grandma Pat, and my Godmother Amy. And especially, especially to my Mommy.

To celebrate, Dad and I planned a picnic for Mom. Similar to my first camping experience, Mom and Dad were both excited about going on a picnic with me for the first time. And just like with camping, there was a lot of packing and unpacking involved before we gave up on the idea being outside. Long story short - we ended up picnicking in the living room. But it was great. We read books and ate and drank. I got to play with a plate. As far as picnics go, this one had all the right ingredients.

 

Annabelle's birthday

Today Mom and I went to Annabelle's birthday party in Sonoma. I slept in the car the whole way. I wanted to play with the other girls, but I can't run like they can just yet. So Mom helped me stand by the kid's table, and Annabelle fed me Goldfish crackers, and I clapped my hands and squealed with the two-year-olds. I can't wait until I can run!

By the way, Annabelle's mom Jen is a talented desert chef - can you tell?

May Day flowers

Happy May Day! Mom tells me that when she was a little girl, she would make paper flowers at school or pick wild daisies to give to Nana on May Day. I don't think anyone gives flowers for May Day anymore, though. Anyway, I wore my purple flower outfit today to celebrate. It's probably the last time I'll wear it because it's already too small.

I've been holding my hands a lot lately. But I won't hold anyone else's hand. There are too many things I want to do with my hands, and I don't like being held down. It was different when I was a little baby. Mom used to put me in the Bjorn and I'd hold her thumbs when we walked to town. I'm too old for that now. Mooooom, you're embarrassing me! 

Bobby's birthday party

Today my neighbor Bobby is one year old. He had an awesome party at the park. I chewed on my fingers, and on a peapod. Yum. Also, Dad and I blew bubbles together.

I know I've been sticking my tongue out a lot lately. So the story is that a week ago, I spent an entire afternoon curling my tongue. I've been trying to do it ever since, and I can't quite get it. So frustrating!

Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day, Mom decided to clean out the house. She tried to sell Dad's old electric guitar on Craigslist, but Dad had "misplaced" a few of the key parts, so it's still sitting in the corner of the office.

My big contribution on Earth Day is going to be fewer diapers. And not because I'm refusing to go. I'm switching to gDiapers - the half disposable, half cloth kind. Did you know that regular diapers stay in landfills for 500 years? I know - eewwww. So the deal is that you can flush the gDiaper insert, and wash the outer cloth part. Plus, they're way cuter than my old disposable diapers. I'll let you know how they work out.

Spring break, part 4: half birthday

March 20 was my half birthday. And what, you might be wondering, have I achieved?

Besides being able to put my feet and almost all of my fingers in my mouth, I've achieved quite a lot in the past six months:

• I was born! Yay!
• I visited a pumpkin patch and Christmas tree farm in Half Moon Bay
• I went on a road trip to visit family in Paso Robles
• I went to lots of parties
• I flew on a plane to Washington twice
• I celebrated my baptism
• I went cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, running, swimming and camping
• I got really good at kicking, sitting, standing, and practicing leg lifts and yoga
• I grew a lot
• I ate solid food (yuck!)
• I had lots of visitors and spent time with my friends and family

We celebrated the big day by taking naps. And then going out to lunch. And then I practiced sitting in my Pack 'n Play. Not much of a party, but I had fun. I heard that Mom and Dad roasted marshmallows and drank beer later that night, though. I totally could have stayed up if I wanted to, but I needed my beauty sleep.

P.S. What's the big deal with the Achiever shirt? Well, obviously you aren't a golfer.

Today is Aunt Sarah's birthday. Happy birthday, Aunt Sarah! Here's a picture of me with Aunt Sarah at the ranch in January. I'm a lot bigger now. And today I'm a lot happier than I look in this photo.

Happy Birthday, Papa!

Today is Papa's birthday. Happy birthday, Papa! I can't wait to see him at the ranch so we can play helecopter again.

Happy Valentine's Day

Dad put me in my special pink dress for Valentine's Day today. I made it a half hour before I barfed and snotted all over it. Which isn't so bad, considering I've been sick with a cold all week.

And maybe it's just the germs talking, but Mom has been really funny the past couple of days. I mean, really, really funny. I know Mom isn't known as a very good joke teller, but man oh man can she make funny dog noises. She totally makes me laugh.

Mom and I are going to Kerry's Valentine's Day party tonight while Dad is in school. I'm really excited because Mom said she would let me stay up at Kerry's place this time.
